Austin is absolutely thrilled to be alive—and honestly, it’s impossible not to feel happier around him. This adorable pit mix landed in a crowded shelter where he completely shut down, quietly becoming a staff favorite while waiting for someone to notice him. Now, just days into life outside the shelter, he’s blossoming into the happiest, most enthusiastic little adventure buddy.

Austin approaches life with his nose to the ground, tail wagging nonstop, and endless curiosity about the world around him. He’s playful, affectionate, goofy, and overflowing with love. Exuberant barely begins to describe him.

He’s currently working on all the basics—leash manners, housetraining, and learning how to settle—and he’s already doing wonderfully with crate training. The best part? Austin is both food motivated and love motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He truly wants to connect with his people.

With new people, Austin may take a minute to warm up, but once he trusts you, he is ALL IN. Expect a very affectionate, very snuggly, very committed companion… preferably draped directly across your lap. At 35 pounds, Austin fully believes he is the perfect lap dog.

Because he’s still learning manners and managing his excitement, Austin would do best with an experienced dog person who can continue helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s clearly meant to be. He enjoys other dogs but needs patient canine friends who won’t mind his enthusiastic puppy energy while he learns better social skills.

Austin is joyful, loving, hilarious, and so ready for his second chance. All he needs now is someone to share it with.
