Helen is a 2-year-old French Bulldog, about 20 pounds, who was found in a crowded Central Valley shelter circling her kennel with a badly damaged eye. The shelter staff were doing everything they could for her and made sure she was safe and cared for, but it was clear she needed a calmer, more supportive environment, and our team knew they could not leave her there.

She was quickly pulled into rescue and placed in a foster home where she could finally decompress and begin healing.

Since then, Helen has had surgery to remove her eye and a severely infected tail, and she has recovered beautifully. She may need another eye removal in the future, which Beyond Rescue will cover.

Helen is blind, but she does not let that define her. Once she learns her surroundings, she moves through the world with confidence and ease. She enjoys a predictable, safe home, loves being near people, and can be a little bossy in the cutest way with other dogs. She prefers companionship over play.

She is proof that “perfect” is not what makes a dog lovable. Helen is perfectly herself: resilient, affectionate, and ready for a calm home where she can thrive.
